Adam Ruszkowski is a Director of Photography and filmmaker based between Shanghai and Hong Kong, focused on cinematic documentary, character-led storytelling, and visually authored nonfiction.

He holds an MA from the Department of Film, Television and Digital Media at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poland, studied art history at Erasmus University Rotterdam on a European Union scholarship, and completed advanced cinematography training under some of Poland’s leading cinematographers.

Adam began his career shooting documentary projects across Asia, including major stories for VICE, while collaborating with local artists on short films. In China, he developed a particular focus on long-form documentary storytelling, shooting feature documentaries and series across the country for Warner Bros. Discovery and CCTV-9.

Selected projects include the Hong Kong series Tears of the Dragon, the multi-episode documentary series China: Flash Forward, and the feature documentary Partnership Continues. His cinematography has since expanded across feature films, commercials, music videos, and independently produced short films.

His credits include a contribution to the Academy Award–winning documentary Citizenfour, as well as Kim Dotcom: Caught in the Web and Truth and Reconciliation for TVN Discovery Group, filmed in remote regions near the Arctic Circle in Canada.

Adam regularly collaborates with international broadcasters and platforms including HBO, BBC, Netflix, Discovery Channel, and CNN Create. His commercial clients have included Disney, Colliers, Cathay Pacific, Huawei, Swire, and the Macao Government Tourism Office.

Alongside commissioned work, he develops independent films rooted in documentary and visual storytelling.

He is an official Easyrig ambassador for Mainland China and Hong Kong.
